Skiing Events at the Winter Olympics

Olympic skiing events include alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, cross country skiing, and nordic combined, which incorporates ski jumping and cross country skiing. 

Alpine Ski Racing

Alpine ski racing consists of five men's events and five women's events. The rules and race configuration are the same for men and women, but the courses differ mostly notably in length.

Cross Country Ski Racing

Cross country skiing races are contested in twelve events which consist of both men and women individual and national team races. 

Freestyle Ski Racing

Freestyle competition is comprised of ski cross, moguls and aeriel skiing.  Mogul competition consists of a ski run down a steep course seeded heavily with bumps and two jumps.  Aeriel competition consists of a two-jump qualification round followed by a two-jump final.  Ski Cross is a skiing competition event where skiers race in a mass start group of four on a course of bumps.

Nordic Combined Competition

There are three Nordic Combined events. All are men's events, which consist of a ski jumping competition and a cross-country skiing race.
