Richard Nordquist is a former writer for ThoughtCo where he wrote about English grammar for 10 years. Richard is professor emeritus of Rhetoric and English at Armstrong State University, now Georgia Southern University. The courses he taught include English Composition, Rhetoric, Business Communication, Creative Nonfiction, and Literature on both undergraduate and graduate levels of study. Richard directed the university's writing center, coordinated a composition program, served as assistant dean of academic services, implemented a distance-learning program, and published numerous books and articles on grammar and rhetoric.
Richard wrote Grammar and Composition textbooks for use in college freshman English, Composition, and Literature classrooms. He is also a freelance writer, professional editor, and writing consultant. Richard served as a visiting professor at Tallinn University (Tallinna Ülikool) in Estonia.
Richard Nordquist received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Rhetoric and English from the University of Georgia in 1990. He holds a Master Arts (M.A.) in English, Modern English and American Literature from the University of Leicester and a bachelors in English from SUNY. Richard also studied British Literature at the University of Nottingham.
